Buntu launches a series profiling the makers behind its assortment

Over the coming months, the series will introduce the independent producers and small brands whose products are sold through Buntu.

Buntu today launched a new editorial series introducing the makers and small businesses behind the products in its shop. The series will feature independent producers from across the assortment, from fashion and accessories to homeware, and will explore how they work, how they grew their businesses and what changed when their products reached a wider online audience.

Many of the producers Buntu works with began by selling directly at markets or through their own networks. Supplying an online retailer involves a different way of working, including planning production in advance, maintaining consistent quality across larger quantities and meeting agreed delivery dates. Buntu works with each maker on these requirements before a product goes on sale.

"Small producers are an important part of what makes our assortment distinctive, and we want customers to know who is behind the products they buy," says a Buntu spokesperson. "The makers we work with have built their businesses carefully, often over many years. This series is a chance to tell those stories properly."

Buntu pays its suppliers on agreed terms, which producers consistently identify as one of the most important factors in planning and growing their businesses.

The first profiles will be published in the coming weeks. Each profile is prepared with the consent and involvement of the maker featured. [Partner profiles to be added.]
